Tale of Awe: A Comic You Create
« on: December 24, 2010, 01:06:49 pm »
Alright so I like to read webcomics and play games and all that noise, and as of late I've been absorbed in MS Paint Adventures, a comic that started off running on viewer suggestions. Being a person who lives an incredibly dull life, I felt the need to do one of these as a means of passing the time, and hopefully get people to be a little active here. I dunno let's get to the point.

For those of you who don't know how this works, it goes something like this: I post a panel or a scene from the story, and you, the reader, suggest an action. It's like an old text based game where you type in what you want your character to do. You can pretty much suggest anything, just don't always expect it to work out like you plan, or to work at all. I like my comics to be a little crazy, so things will probably defy logic and basic knowledge of things. Feel free to suggest whatever you want, and I will choose one of the suggestions to happen, or more than one depending on the amount of time I want to put into it then. All commands for now must be suggested with a > before the command such as:
>Open Fridge
This may change as the story progresses.

We'll start off simple:

This is you. You're standing in the corner of your room staring at the wall for no reason in particular, when suddenly you feel a strong feeling in your stomach. This feeling is telling you that you are going to be something great, you're going to make a difference. Who knew staring at a wall for an undetermined amount of time would bring such a strong message? You can tell it's going to happen too, generations from now, people will read about you in books, they'll sing songs about you, leaders will praise your name and admire you.

Wait. Your name. Crap, not again you must have forgotten. What's your name again?

Oh well before we get any actions done we need to establish a name for our hero.

>Jenson

Your name is Jenson. Just Jenson. But seeing how in common modern day cultures, it is normal for people to have a first name and last name, you know you'll need to make up your latter post haste. Your name is JENSON HERO, to reflect your new TITLE of THE HERO.

With your newly acquired NAME and TITLE you Level Up! You unlock STATUS SCREEN, INVENTORY SCREEN, PHYSICAL DETAILS. Time to give an appropriate description of yourself, you'll have to have some information about yourself available for when they write your biography!

Your name is JENSON HERO. You just recently moved into your BRAND NEW APARTMENT, that your BEST FRIEND SINCE CHILDHOOD helped set you up with, and have already furnished (barely) it with your BELONGINGS. You have a variety of INTERESTS. You love the TV Show "PSYCH" and wish you could come up with witty lines and jokes like it's cast. You have the hobby of collecting RANDOM CRAP and leaving them WHEREVER YOU FEEL LIKE. You also have the new INTEREST of BEING THE MAIN CHARACTER, a role that only YOU can fulfill.

>Open window to observe city

You attempt to open your WINDOW, but come to discover that it is in fact not a REAL WINDOW, but instead is just painted onto your WALL. They even used LUMINESCENT PAINT to make the window bright. How aggravating. You dearly hope the rest of your apartment isn't as stupid as this.

>Look at Poster. It seems interesting.

You look at your poster. Your BEST FRIEND gave it to you to celebrate your move. He knows you love Pysch. He's a good friend. The best friend.

>pick up red ball
>INVENTORY SCREEN

You pick up the red ball. Oh wait this isn't just any ordinary red ball, this is a THREE BALL from a game of billiards! Red ball, what were you thinking? You open your inventory for the first time, curious as to what it does. It appears you now have NINE SPACES to hold objects without worrying about pockets or being weighed down! This must be what it's like to be a hero. Freaking sweet. While you would love for your inventory to be able to hold any object, you are quite certain that it can't hold REALLY BIG THINGS, that would just be illogical. You wonder what the limits are to your space sizes.

>leave apartment

You would love to leave your apartment, but sadly you aren't in the entrance room! Indeed, it would appear your apartment came with it's own library area, as you can clearly see when you turn around to face the other corners of the room. Speaking of the other corners of the room, there they are, in all their cornery glory. You can see two door ways here, one branching off to the left through the arches, and the other in the wall across the room.

Grab the Umbrella. This thing could be useful to defend yourself against any monstrosity dwelling in your apartment.

You pocket the UMBRELLA for further usage. Not only can it protect you from the rain, you can poke someone pretty fierce with it. You reach down to pick up the head of James Roday, only to find it is a BUST OF JAMES RODAY. You decide to try speaking to it anyway.

Okay this is starting to freak you out a bit. You shove the bust into your inventory just to escape it's haunting gaze.
