iPad 2

Two days ago Apple's manufacturing company Faxconn received an order 600,000 units of the iPad 2 to be prepped for shipping. No one knows anything about this new tablet only that it is now expected to be revealed by Apple in January and might be shipped as early as February next year.

How do you guys feel about this? Do you think the iPad is worth a second make and model?

As of right now, No. And this is coming from an Apple enthusiast.

Tablets are just now busting into the mainstream audience after the iPad earlier this year. The iPad has had pretty decent sales but not enough to warrant a new installment. And especially after just releasing it for Verizon's 3G network. Not too much to improve on unless you were to update it along the line of the 4th generation iPhones and iTouchs which would be stupid. Who would want to take pictures with a tablet? Not me.  I absolutely refuse to get an iPad when my iPod Touch can do the exact same things in a more compact device that is cheaper.

Its an Apple product though so it should be expected by now, but by God if they announce iPad 2 before the fabled Verizon/Sprint iPhone or a Macbook Pro with BluRay I wont be the only Apple fan upset.

New Macbooks are coming in October of next year. So I wouldn't worry about that too much.

I agree with you on how the iPad really is just a gimmick and overall is not needed but I cannot say that it isn't fun to mess around with and use.
