Anyone using this software? I'm currently using it for my Engineering Graphics class - Its alright, but I definitely prefer whatever program it was that we used in HS

Yeah Inventor is top notch (what we used in HS). 3DS Max is really good as well, excellent for particle animation and motion features.

Ahh it was 3DS-Max that I was thinking of, Inventor is considered kind of old to me, since what we've been using that since junior high?

Yeah we were. Still an industry leader.

If you are talking animation, Maya is the industry's best there is.

Perfect for character animation and used by a ton of companies including Pixar and DreamWorks.

Sadly it'll cost you around 1K for just student ed.  ::)

Maya pumps out some incredible stuff.
Again though the price make you cringe just a tad inside.

To even work at Pixar you have to be pretty much an expert with it

This is from the pixar employment site:

Pixar uses its own proprietary software built and maintained in-house. In general, we look for broad artistic and technical skills, rather than the ability to run one package over another. We concentrate on finding people with breadth, depth, communication skills and the ability to collaborate. If you have those attributes, we can teach you the specific tools.

^^ Yes but to intern with them you have to know Maya legitimately well.

Especially considering you have to submit a demo reel too showing off some of your work.
