RED RING OF DEATH!?!?!? :O

ok guys. i just bought a harddrive for my xbox. (not the newest version, but the one with the exterior harddrive) and when i attach it to my xbox and turn it on i get the red ring of death :( just the single led (bottom left) however when take it off, the system runs normal. any ideas on how i could fix it?:/

Sounds like the hard drive is corrupted. You may need to buy a new one. :(
