Books and Such
« on: December 05, 2010, 09:57:28 pm »
Any good books that people have read or are reading and would like to refer others to them this is the place.

I am reading this book called Children of Huren by J.J.R. Tolken. It is pretty similar to the Lord of the Rings books if anyone is interested.

Similar? It is set in the same time period and lore as Lord of The Rings. Just takes place well before the trilogy. A great book though.

I have yet to finish it but it has pulled me into it. Which I like in a book. And as for the use of the word "similar" I did not know it was the same time period and lore I just figured it was another good Middle Earth book.

@bloodhawk - not to be rude but Tolkien pretty much wrote exclusively within the realm of Middle Earth that he created. Just for future reference.

I, on the other hand, happen to be re-reading a few oldies: Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, A Tale of Two Cities by Charles Dickens and doing some research into ancient Jewish history for fun.

Yeah I am not much of a reader but when I find a book I like I usually try to stick with it until I finish it. Like the book Bitterwood. Sorry but the author escapes my mind.

James Maxey wrote Bitterwood. Good novel right there.

no dude my own list.  that bbc list was weak, skewed, and flawed.  for example, counting hamlet but also the complete works of shakespeare as different entries.

^^ agreed.

Call me naive but I dislike Hamlet. Just didnt get into it very much. Now Macbeth and Othello on the other hand were excellent. Probably my favorite works of his.

I did enjoy a play we read on Hamlet from the perspective of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern  Are Dead.
